Chinese mythology, folktales, and literature
Chapter Ten (Exalting the Worthy III) continues Mohist meritocracy. Mozi criticizes rulers who value kin or looks over talent, uses archery analogies, cites sage kings, and stresses elevating capable commoners to enrich, stabilize and unify the realm.
Mencius praises King Wen’s benevolent governance centered on supporting elders. Fair land policies, sericulture and livestock farming secure seniors’ silk and meat. Wise rulers caring for the aged draw virtuous men to their realms.
