After slaying the Demon King of Chaos(Monstrous King of Havoc) and wresting from him his huge scimitar, Handsome Monkey King practiced daily with the little monkeys the art of war, teaching them how to sharpen bamboos for making spears, file wood for making swords, arrange flags and banners, go on patrol, advance or retreat, and pitch camp.
One day, the Handsome Monkey King grew uneasy. “What if beasts or demons attack again? These bamboo poles and wooden swords won’t hold them off!” He convened his monkeys to discuss acquiring real weapons. An elder proposed, “East lies the Aolai Kingdom, teeming with soldiers and civilians. They must have arms aplenty.”

Looting the royal arsenal
Delighted, Wukong declared, “Stay and play—I’ll fetch weapons!” He soared on his Somersault Cloud to Aolai. With a breath, he summoned a tempest of sand and stones, plunging the city into darkness. Terrified, soldiers and civilians barred their doors.
Descending, Wukong stormed the royal arsenal. Inside lay countless weapons: blades, spears, bows. He plucked hairs, chewed them, and spat out hordes of clone monkeys. They scrambled to snatch and haul every weapon back to Flower and Fruit Mountain.

Riding the Somersault Cloud, Wukong led his clones home, then retracted his hairs. Weapons piled high, the monkeys claimed swords, drew bows, and paraded noisily, reveling for days.

The next dawn, Wukong gathered all 47,000 monkeys. The commotion drew monster kings and beast lords from across the mountain, who came bearing gifts: golden drums, banners, and armor. Flower and Fruit Mountain buzzed with drills and celebrations—unwittingly sparking a catastrophe that would draw heaven’s wrath.
