Caigentan 97. Inner perception and projections

If every person made a habit of looking upon everything as flawless, then everything in the world would naturally become perfect.

If every person made a habit of making his heart expansive and tranquil, then men’s evil and harmful feelings would naturally disappear.

此心常看得圆满,天下自无缺陷之世界;此心常放得宽平,天下自然无险侧之人情。

Notes

The “flaws” in our world often stem from inner perception—fixation on imperfection blinds us to completeness, while acceptance unveils inherent wholeness.

The “treachery” in human relations often mirrors inner projections—suspicion breeds distrust, while broad-mindedness dissolves conflict.

Life’s “joy or sorrow,” “fortune or adversity,” hinges not on reality itself but on how the heart interprets it. Shifting perspective transforms our engagement with the world—not as escapism, but as resilient wisdom to embrace life.
